Entrepreneur and small biz ideas during COVID-19

Are you needing to pivot during this season of unheval?

Some great advice I came across through Jenna Kutcher:

"It’s natural to want to shrink away when things get hard, but it’s so important you stay visible and lead conversations in your community. Continue to share, post content, let people in behind-the-scenes. Your presence online matters and will help fuel your business when things pick up again. That vulnerability is the thing that will connect us all right now when things are unpredictable."

I wanted to share with you some thoughts in and around business strategy during this time. As much as the effects have been horrific for so many and this is not in any way to undermine the severity of COVID-19 but from a business and innovation perspective I want to share some of these thoughts and ideas because it might be just what you need at this time.

I highly encourage you during this time to be strong in your communication, your strategy and your collaboration (virtually) with both your clients and industry alike.  Try to stay agile and open to pivoting where you can. There are so many uncontrollable factors that might be affecting your business and the stress, particularly financially, can feel crippling but focus on what you can control.

Ideas to Innovate...

Some ideas that may work for you.

  • Offer to deliver for free (hospitality particularly) or create a box of dinners/lunches or snack ideas

  • Collaborate with other similar businesses to package up some services/products

  • Run a class/course online

  • Create fun kids packs to help parents continue work at this time (they will remember you for this!!!)

  • Design and sell/giveaway an ebook to either help others in the industry or your clients - transition from product to service based or visa versa

  • Offer free clarity calls to help clients during this time or potential new ones

  • Look to where you can value-add (additional products and services) rather than discounting

  • Promote gift certificates

  • Offer payment plans

  • Experiment with new ideas you have been wanting to try (no time like now to test)

  • Work on your business - take the space to get to that never ending to-do list

Remember that as the weeks go on people will start craving good news (you may already see it happening on social) and they will crave new beginnings and so it's important to set your business strategy up for this. What often creates the difference during this time in business your ability to adapt, connect, be conscious and communicate.

You are incredible and AH-MAZING (!!!)! Please seek out support (either financially or with strategy) where you need to as there are an abundance of resources both personally and professionally available.
